Tracking the Car Updates – 2025 Summer Break Edition

Scale model of an F1 car in the Mercedes Petronas Formula 1 Team race bays in Brackley

The 2025 summer break is almost over, so let’s take a look at the updates teams have submitted so far this season.

At every race, teams are required to submit their updates of all major bodywork or aerodynamical surfaces to the FIA prior to the race weekend, which is how we can keep up with what exactly has been updated.

I’ve taken a look at the documents from each race, and tallied up the results.

Disclaimer: I’m only looking at the number of updates teams have introduced over the season so far. Not how effective an update is or the size of the updates themselves. It can be everything from a completely new part, to a slight alteration to the existing design.

Over the season so far, a grand total of 269 updates have been reported by the teams to the FIA. Out of those 269, Red Bull has submitted the most updates at 38, with Alpine coming in with the fewest updates at only 18.

Here’s the breakdown of total updates per team:

The most updated part across the grid has been the rear wings, with 36 updates. It’s closely followed by front wings which have had 34 updates.

The only team to not have updated their floor body so far is Williams, while Aston Martin is the only team to not have updated their front suspension.

All teams have made at least one update to their beam wing, front corner, front wing, rear corner and rear wing. Only Williams have updated their front wing flap, and only VCARB have updated their sidepods.

If we break it down by team and part updated, this is what is looks like:
